SMALL STEPS FOR BIG RESULTS the Toddler Method to Success
NOT LONG AGO, A CLIENT CAME TO ME with a large project she had to complete. She was procrastinating on getting started, pushing up against the deadline, and feeling totally overwhelmed with all that she had to do. Plus, she felt she had to get the project done perfectly, right now was exhausted before she even started. Sound familiar?
I reminded her of what it’s like for a toddler to learn how to walk. They’re often not successful on the first try. They take some small steps here, and stop. Then they take some small steps there and stop. This goes on for awhile, until all the small steps turn into a toddler who has now learned how to walk. Mission accomplished.
This toddler is living success… from the inside out. Toddlers instinctively know that taking small steps over a concentrated period of time will result in achieving the large goal. The same holds true for, too.
You can begin practicing “the toddler method of success” right now. Choose a project or goal that you’ve been putting off because it seemed like too much work to accomplish. Break it down into small, manageable steps. Schedule each small step into your calendar this week. Mark off each small step as you complete it. See how much easier it is to accomplish the project or goal that once seemed overwhelming, simple by doing it in small steps.
Remember :
Small steps for big results. Now, bask in the glory of your accomplishment.
